Kansas USA-1958: Man Wearing Hat And Glasses Exiting Small Shop

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

A 5-second 8mm clip of a smiling 1950s Kansas man outside a commercial storefront suits documentary segments on mid-century American small-town life or period Americana b-roll.

Period detail

A partial 'Clark Medical Clinic' sign, flat newsboy cap, wire-rim glasses, and dark wool jacket suggest late 1950s small-town American streetwear and commercial streetscape.

Home-movie behavior

The subject smiles directly into the lens, indicating familiarity with the filmmaker — a candid, unstaged portrait typical of home-movie documentation of family or friends.

What appears in frame

Man in flat cap and wire-rim glasses, smiling face turned toward camera, dark wool jacket, collared shirt, partial red 'Clark Medical' sign at upper right, circular emblem, storefront door frame, second figure partially visible at background edge.

Film character

Moderate grain, warm colour bleed, heavy vignetting, and a lens-flare reflection on the subject's spectacles give the footage the tactile warmth characteristic of late 1950s amateur 8mm.

Edit role

Functions as a close-up human-face cutaway or opening portrait beat within a 1950s small-town Americana sequence, or as a candid reaction shot in a period documentary.

Historical context

The visible 'Clark Medical Clinic' signage places this on a commercial block where medical services co-existed with retail, a pattern common in mid-century American small towns.

Research note

Subject's face is clearly identifiable in close-up; no talent release is on file; the 'Clark Medical Clinic' business sign is a visible trade name requiring editorial-use context review.
