Kansas USA-1958: Man With Gun And Dead Fox In Car Backyard

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Suitable for 1950s rural Americana or hunting-culture segments in documentary or editorial productions seeking authentic mid-century Kansas home-movie material.

Period detail

Classic mid-century American car body style, outdoor hunting jackets, and a lettered ball cap suggest a circa-1958 rural Great Plains setting consistent with the metadata date.

Home-movie behavior

Candid celebration of a successful hunt — men pose with their quarry, one grinning directly at the camera, in the unguarded style typical of personal home-movie filming.

What appears in frame

Two adult men in outdoor hunting jackets and caps, a dark classic American car, a dead fox on the open cargo area, a long rifle, flat grassland, a utility pole, and warm 8mm color tones.

Film character

8mm color grain with warm amber tones, slight edge vignetting, and motion blur in an early frame give the footage an intimate time-capsule texture consistent with amateur mid-century color stock.

Edit role

Works as a tight insert or cutaway in a rural hunting or postwar Americana sequence; the final wide shot provides a clean character-establishing frame.

Historical context

Displaying harvested game beside a vehicle was a conventional home-movie ritual in mid-century Great Plains communities, where hunting was a common leisure and subsistence activity.

Research note

Two adult faces are identifiable in multiple frames; likeness review is advised for commercial use. Firearm is documentary subject matter; no private interiors or brand marks are visible.
