Man Water-Skis at Night on Moonlit Lake — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from Michigan, USA, in 1961, showing a man water skiing at night on a calm lake. The scene is viewed through a dark frame, likely from a window, with a dense forest lining the far shore. The skier, a solitary figure, glides across the water, creating a small wake under dim, ambient lighting. The grainy, low-light quality of the film captures the nostalgic, candid feel of a classic summer recreation. The image is faint and slightly out of focus, emphasizing the era's amateur film aesthetic.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s Michigan home-movie footage useful for documentary or museum requests about summer lake recreation, water skiing, and amateur leisure filming.
Period detail: The 8mm look, distant skier, wooded shore, and simple recreational setting may show early-1960s lake leisure without visible modern markers.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged observer's view of a lone water skier passing across a lake, filmed from behind a dark foreground frame.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a distant water skier, calm lake surface, small wake spray, wooded far shore, dim exposure, and dark vertical frame edges.
Film character: Grain, low-light exposure, soft focus, and slight frame obstruction give the footage a candid 8mm home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, transition, or memory beat for lake vacations, outdoor recreation, or nostalgic summer sports.
Historical context: The footage reflects informal mid-century recreational filming around a wooded Michigan lake, with emphasis on leisure rather than a documented event.
Research note: A person is visible at distance, so likeness review may still be needed; no logos, music, or clear private property are visible in these frames.
Research search match: Search matches include 1961 Michigan 8mm water skiing, vintage lake recreation, home movie water skier, and 1960s summer sports footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other shots from the same reel, then Michigan 1961 lake material, then broader 1960s boating and water-sport home movies.
