Female Water Skiing and Falling Into Lake — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from Michigan, USA, in 1961, showing a woman in a dark one-piece swimsuit and white swim cap water skiing on a lake. She holds a tow rope, glides across the water, and creates a spray of white water. The clip captures her in motion, with a brief moment of her falling into the water. The film exhibits classic Super 8 grain, color fading, and a dark border, characteristic of amateur 1960s home movies. The scene evokes a nostalgic, summertime recreational atmosphere.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s U.S. leisure, lake recreation, and women’s water-skiing scenes in documentary or educational edits.
Period detail: The swimsuit, swim cap, tow rope, and small-lake setting may show early-1960s recreational water skiing in Michigan.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has unstaged home-movie value as a swimmer or skier loses balance and splashes into the lake during a family outing.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a woman water skiing, tow rope, lake surface, white spray, dark film borders, and a final splash after the fall.
Film character: The 8mm footage carries soft focus, visible grain, color fading, uneven exposure, and dark frame edges typical of amateur home movies.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a brief insert, summer recreation cutaway, memory beat, or transition into a vacation or lake sequence.
Historical context: The scene reflects mid-century outdoor leisure and amateur filming of water sports without identifying the people or exact lake.
Research note: People are visible, so likeness review may be needed; no brands or private property are apparent, and copyright clearance is separate.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1960s Michigan home movie water skiing, woman falling into lake, vintage 8mm summer recreation, and lake vacation footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with the same reel, then other 1961 Michigan lake footage, then broader 1960s family recreation or water-sport material.
