Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for documentary or educational edits needing 1940s home-movie footage of summer recreation and pool leisure in Seaside, New Jersey.
Period detail: The swim caps, simple bathing suits, inner tubes, and saturated 8mm color may show mid-century public-pool leisure consistent with the supplied 1949 date.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged vacation perspective as swimmers drift, look toward the camera, and relax in the water rather than performing for a formal setup.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include turquoise pool water, red inner tubes, adults floating, a white swim cap, dark swimwear, sunlit ripples, and soft underwater shadows.
Film character: The footage has dense 8mm grain, faded blue-green color, uneven exposure, slight softness, and handheld framing that give it recognizable physical-film texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short insert, summer-memory cutaway, leisure transition, or visual punctuation within a sequence about postwar recreation.
Historical context: The scene visually reflects casual mid-century pool recreation, with adults using inner tubes and swim caps in a public or resort-style swimming setting.
Research note: People and faces are visible, so likeness and privacy review may be needed separately from copyright status, while no logos, music, or private interiors are apparent.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1949 8mm pool footage, Seaside New Jersey swimming, vintage inner tube swimmers, mid-century summer leisure, and home movie public pool.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then other Seaside 1949 material, and then thematically related vintage swimming, beach, pool, and summer recreation clips.
