Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for archive requests needing late-1940s 8mm leisure footage of an adult swimmer at a New Jersey seaside resort pool for documentary, education, or memory-sequence use.
Period detail: The clip may show postwar summer recreation through an outdoor pool setting, bright daylight, simple swimwear, and the soft color response of mid-century amateur 8mm film.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in the unstaged home-movie observation of a man entering the water, surfacing, and swimming casually while the camera stays close to the pool.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include turquoise pool water, splash and foam, an adult male swimmer, sun reflections, a dark background fence or pool edge, and soft home-movie focus.
Film character: The footage has an 8mm home-movie texture with visible grain, slight color fading, uneven exposure, and gentle softness from handheld filming and scan transfer.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short summer recreation insert, a poolside transition, or a personal-memory beat within a broader seaside vacation sequence.
Historical context: The scene documents everyday adult leisure at a resort-style pool, offering social context for mid-century summer travel without identifying the person or facility.
Research note: A recognizable adult face appears intermittently, so likeness review may be needed separately from copyright, with no visible logos, children, or audible music indicated by the supplied metadata.
Research search match: Likely search matches include 1949 8mm swimming pool footage, Seaside New Jersey home movie swimmer, vintage summer resort pool, and mid-century vacation recreation film.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then with other Seaside, New Jersey 1949 material, and then with broader vintage summer swimming or resort leisure scenes.
