1937 vintage 8mm film footage captures Harvard University students enjoying a winter afternoon ice skating on the frozen Charles River in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The scene shows young men and women in 1930s casual attire gliding across the ice, some practicing hockey, others skating for fun. The frozen river serves as a natural rink surrounded by snow-covered campus architecture and leafless trees, reflecting the cold, snowy winter atmosphere. This authentic archival footage offers a rare glimpse into student life and recreational activities during the Great Depression era, showcasing carefree moments of outdoor enjoyment and social interaction on a historic university campus.
