1937 vintage 8mm film footage from Tryon, North Carolina, capturing a segregated restroom for Black travelers at a railroad station during the Jim Crow era. The clip shows a modest, separate facility marked 'Colored' at a Southern train depot, reflecting the systemic racism and racial segregation of the 1930s American South. This rare archival footage offers a poignant glimpse into the daily realities of racial inequality, with the station serving as a hub for travel and commerce in the Blue Ridge Mountains region. The scene reflects the era's social norms and the impact of segregation on public infrastructure and daily life.
