Fishing Boat Docked at Pier, San Francisco — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1957, this vintage home movie captures a small fishing boat docked at a pier in San Francisco. The clip shows the boat's white cabin with a teal roof, a steering wheel, and fishing gear, moored beside a wooden dock. The final frame reveals a large white building on the waterfront, likely a fish market or harbor facility. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 film grain, color fading, and a slightly shaky handheld perspective, evoking a nostalgic mid-century maritime atmosphere.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s San Francisco maritime or waterfront sequences needing brief home-movie views of a small fishing boat at a pier.
Period detail: The small cabin boat, wooden dock, rigging, and waterfront building may show mid-century harbor working conditions visible in the 1957 footage.
Home-movie behavior: The handheld framing suggests a visitor or amateur filmer noticing dock details from close range before turning toward the waterfront building.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a white cabin boat with teal roof, steering wheel, dock planks, rigging, blue water, mooring lines, and a white waterfront building.
Film character: The 8mm footage has soft focus, visible grain, color fading, gate shadows, and slight handheld movement that preserve its physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short cutaway, establishing insert, or memory beat within a sequence about fishing docks, harbor visits, or San Francisco waterfront life.
Historical context: The clip provides visual context for small-boat activity along an urban waterfront without confirming the specific facility or commercial use shown.
Research note: No people, logos, or audible music are visible or flagged, but copyright, location, vessel, and property context should still be reviewed for intended use.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1957 8mm San Francisco waterfront footage, small fishing boat at pier, vintage harbor dock, and mid-century home movie boat scenes.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1957 San Francisco waterfront material, then broader vintage fishing boat or harbor dock footage.
