Motel with Large Blue Swimming Pool — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1958, this vintage home movie captures a sun-drenched view of a motel or apartment complex in Las Vegas. The camera pans across a large, blue outdoor swimming pool with a concrete deck and metal ladder, set against a long, dark building with rows of windows. Palm trees and green lawns frame the scene under a bright sky, evoking classic mid-century American leisure. The footage features natural film grain and slight motion blur, characteristic of Super 8 home movies from the era.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1950s Las Vegas home-movie footage for productions needing an exterior poolside motel or apartment-complex leisure cutaway.
Period detail: The clip may show mid-century rental or motel architecture, a large outdoor pool, metal ladders, concrete decking, lawns, and palms under bright desert sun.
Home-movie behavior: The camera observes the pool area from a casual visitor or resident viewpoint, valuing the ordinary, unstaged look of lodging amenities.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include blue pool water, concrete deck, metal pool ladders, dark windowed building, lawn edges, palm trunks, and bright sky.
Film character: The 8mm scan has soft focus, visible grain, slight gate shadow, high-contrast exposure, and gentle handheld drift that read as physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short establishing insert, leisure cutaway, transition beat, or memory detail for postwar travel and lodging scenes.
Historical context: The footage gives visual context for sunbelt leisure spaces and rental amenities without identifying the specific property or operator.
Research note: People are flagged in the clip metadata, so likeness review may be needed, while copyright, property, and location identification should be assessed separately.
Research search match: Useful searches include 1958 Las Vegas 8mm pool footage, vintage motel swimming pool, mid-century apartment pool, and home movie vacation lodging.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with same-reel Las Vegas material, then 1958 Nevada exteriors, then broader 1950s motel, apartment, pool, and travel-leisure footage.
