Three People Showing Fish That They Just Caught — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1961, this vintage home movie captures three people on a lakeside dock in Novi, Michigan. A man in a hat and purple shirt stands with two women, one in a green dress and another in a brown jacket, as they proudly display a fish they’ve just caught. The scene unfolds on a wooden dock with white railings, surrounded by trees and calm water, evoking a nostalgic mid-century American summer. The footage shows natural movement and the characteristic grain of Super 8 film, with warm, slightly faded colors typical of the era. This authentic slice of life is ideal for documentaries, editorial content, or nostalgic storytelling.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s 8mm home-movie footage for productions needing a brief lakeside fishing moment with adults informally displaying a catch.
Period detail: The clothing, metal dock railings, patio chairs, and soft color 8mm look support a mid-century leisure setting consistent with the 1961 metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in the casual posing and small gestures as three adults acknowledge the camera while showing a fish on a quiet dock.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include three adults, a held fish, a wooden dock, white railings, yellow and green chairs, calm lake water, and a wooded shoreline.
Film character: The clip has soft focus, visible grain, uneven exposure, and slight handheld framing that give it a recognizable original 8mm home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, memory beat, or cutaway for fishing, family leisure, lake vacations, or 1960s outdoor recreation.
Historical context: The scene reflects informal domestic recreation by a lake, with adults presenting a small catch rather than a staged commercial or news event.
Research note: People and faces are visible, so likeness review may be needed; no logos are apparent, and copyright clearance is separate from personal rights.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1961 Novi Michigan fishing home movie, 8mm lakeside dock, three adults with fish, and 1960s lake vacation footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1961 Novi lake footage, then broader home-movie fishing or summer recreation scenes.
