Lady In Swim Cap Swimming In Pond Or Lake In Nature — Clip Details

A vintage 8mm home movie from 1938 captures a woman in a swimsuit and swim cap swimming in a natural pond or lake in New Jersey. The grainy black-and-white footage shows her moving through the water, with ripples and reflections visible on the surface. In one frame, she emerges from the water, while another shows her crouching near the edge, possibly preparing to enter. The surrounding foliage suggests a secluded outdoor setting, evoking a sense of nostalgic summer recreation from the late 1930s.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Supports requests for late-1930s New Jersey home-movie footage of outdoor swimming, summer recreation, and women in swimwear for documentary or educational use.
Period detail: The swim cap, one-piece bathing suit, black-and-white 8mm texture, and metadata-supported 1938 date place the scene within late-1930s amateur leisure footage.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged home-movie view of a woman swimming, surfacing, and moving near the water's edge in a natural setting.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a woman in a swim cap, rippled pond or lake water, a one-piece swimsuit, shoreline edge, leafy foliage, and strong film-frame borders.
Film character: The footage has dense black-and-white grain, soft focus, high contrast, handheld framing, and visible 8mm contact-frame edges that reinforce its amateur film origin.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a brief insert, summer-memory cutaway, recreation transition, or period texture beat within a 1930s family or leisure sequence.
Historical context: The scene shows outdoor swimming as private or informal leisure, with the camera focused on movement in water rather than a public facility or named location.
Research note: A woman is visible and may be identifiable in closer frames, so likeness review is advisable even though no logos, music, or private interiors are visible.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1938 New Jersey 8mm swimming footage, woman swim cap pond home movie, 1930s lake recreation, and vintage outdoor bathing scene.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1938 New Jersey material, then broader 1930s outdoor swimming or summer recreation footage.
