Woman Enjoying A Nice Swim In A Pool Before Stepping Out — Clip Details

A woman in a white swimming cap enjoys a leisurely swim in a backyard pool, captured on 8mm film in 1938. She moves through the water with ease, her head and shoulders visible above the surface, before stepping out near the pool's edge. The scene is framed by a metal ladder, a concrete deck, and leafy trees in the background, evoking a nostalgic summer day. The grainy black-and-white footage, with its characteristic film borders, reflects the authentic look of a vintage home movie from New Jersey.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1930s New Jersey home-movie footage for productions needing a brief leisure, swimming, or summer recreation insert with visible period pool setting.
Period detail: The scene may show late-1930s backyard recreation cues, including a modest outdoor pool, metal ladder, swim cap, concrete edging, and black-and-white 8mm framing.
Home-movie behavior: The swimmer moves casually through the water toward the pool edge, giving the clip an unstaged family-film feeling rather than a posed portrait.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a woman in a light swim cap, rippling pool water, a metal ladder, concrete coping, a grassy bank, trees, and dark 8mm frame borders.
Film character: The clip has dense black-and-white grain, soft contrast, visible gate edges, and slight handheld framing that preserve its original 8mm home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short cutaway, memory beat, or transition for summer leisure, domestic recreation, or prewar everyday-life sequences.
Historical context: The footage places private leisure and swimming within a domestic outdoor setting, while avoiding any broader social claim beyond what the frames show.
Research note: A visible adult swimmer may raise likeness considerations, and copyright status should be checked separately from any location or personal-rights review.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1930s New Jersey home movie pool swim, 8mm woman swimming cap, vintage backyard pool footage, and prewar summer leisure.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with New Jersey 1938 home movies, then with other vintage swimming or summer recreation scenes.
