Black And White Video Of An Old Wooden Oil Well — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1937, this black and white archival footage captures an old wooden oil well in Long Beach, California. The scene features a prominent derrick structure with intricate metal latticework, a wooden platform, and a ladder leading to an upper level. A small building sits at the base, surrounded by sparse vegetation and utility poles under a bright sky. The image exhibits classic Super 8 grain, edge wear, and a slightly shaky camera movement, evoking a raw, authentic mid-20th century industrial moment.
