Distant View Of A Partially Built Late Apartment Block — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1962, this vintage home movie captures a distant view of a partially constructed late apartment block in Izmir, Turkey. The low-angle perspective, framed by a dark window edge, reveals a modernist stone building with large windows and a flat roof, overlooking a calm sea under an overcast sky. The grainy, slightly faded color palette and subtle film jitter evoke a nostalgic, archival feel, offering a glimpse into mid-century urban development and coastal architecture.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s urban development, coastal housing, or Izmir establishing cutaways in documentary, museum, education, or period research edits.
Period detail: The flat-roofed stone apartment block, sparse surroundings, and coastal horizon may show mid-century residential construction in Izmir.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has a visitor-shot or resident-viewpoint feel, filmed from behind a dark window edge rather than staged for formal architectural coverage.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a stone apartment block, dark window framing, flat roofline, balcony or glazed section, sea horizon, cloudy sky, shrubs, and small distant people.
Film character: The 8mm footage shows soft focus, faded color, visible grain, light jitter, and exposure falloff at the frame edges as part of its home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a brief cutaway, location insert, memory beat, or transition into material about housing, travel, or coastal urban change.
Historical context: The view places modern residential construction beside a coastal landscape, offering visual context without confirming the building's exact identity or use.
Research note: People appear only distantly, but likeness and property review may still be needed; copyright clearance is separate from location or personal rights.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1962 Izmir 8mm apartment construction, Turkey coastal apartment block home movie, and 1960s urban housing cutaway.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with the same reel, then with other 1962 Izmir footage, then with clips showing coastal housing, construction, or mid-century urban views.
