New Cumberland Penn-1946: Man Smiles Outdoors In 1940s Suit

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Useful for requests needing 1940s American home-movie footage of an adult man outdoors for documentary, education, museum, or period-memory sequences.

Period detail

The man's suit jacket, patterned tie, groomed hair, and black-and-white 8mm look support the supplied 1946 postwar Pennsylvania context.

Home-movie behavior

The value is an unstaged personal moment as the man looks down, turns toward the camera, and smiles in a casual outdoor portrait.

What appears in frame

Visible elements include an adult man in a suit, patterned tie, bright sky, trees or shrubs, distant hills, and vertical dark edges from the film frame or nearby structure.

Film character

The clip has visible 8mm grain, soft focus, high midday contrast, slight exposure variation, and a handheld home-movie portrait texture.

Edit role

An editor could use it as a short character insert, family-memory beat, transition into postwar domestic life, or cutaway for mid-century portrait material.

Historical context

The scene visually suggests an ordinary outdoor social or family setting in New Cumberland, without evidence in-frame of a specific public event.

Research note

A recognizable adult face is visible, so copyright, likeness, and any contextual identification questions should be reviewed separately before use.
