Motorboat Docked At Lakeside Pier With Arid Hills — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1975, this vintage home movie captures a serene lakeside dock in Guaymas, Mexico. A white and blue motorboat with a canvas top is moored at a wooden pier, its name 'GOURSMITH 3' visible. The scene unfolds under a clear, deep blue sky, with arid, rocky hills forming a rugged backdrop. The camera pans slowly across the tranquil water, reflecting the bright sunlight and surrounding landscape. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 grain and color saturation, evoking a nostalgic 1970s vacation memory. The final frame reveals distant white buildings along the shore, suggesting a developing lakeside community. This authentic archival clip is ideal for documentaries, editorial content, or nostalgic projects exploring mid-century American and Mexican leisure culture.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1970s home-movie requests needing a quiet travel or leisure cutaway of a small motorboat docked on arid waterfront in Guaymas, Mexico.
Period detail: The 1975 8mm footage shows a runabout-style motorboat, simple wooden dock, bright leisure setting, and saturated color typical of amateur travel films from the period.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has an unstaged visitor perspective, lingering on the moored boat, calm water, shoreline, and distant buildings as a vacation observer might record them.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a white and blue motorboat, canvas top, wooden pier, still water, dry hills, open blue sky, shoreline brush, and distant white buildings.
Film character: The scan carries 8mm home-movie texture with visible grain, saturated blue sky, slight softness, frame-edge marks, and steady but informal handheld framing.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a travel insert, waterfront transition, leisure cutaway, or quiet memory beat between broader Mexico vacation scenes.
Historical context: The scene suggests 1970s recreational boating and shoreline tourism in an arid coastal or lakeside setting without making claims about a specific marina or development.
Research note: No people are visible, but the boat name and possible manufacturer markings should be reviewed separately from copyright, likeness, and location permissions.
Research search match: Researcher matches include 1975 Guaymas Mexico 8mm boat dock, vintage home movie motorboat pier, 1970s Mexico waterfront, and arid shoreline vacation footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with neighboring shots from the same reel, then other 1975 Guaymas waterfront material, then broader 1970s boating, travel, and arid landscape scenes.
