Archive brief fit: Useful for 1970s New York archival requests needing recreational swimming, athletic practice, pool activity, or vintage home-movie inserts.
Period detail: The clip shows blue-toned 8mm pool footage from 1973, with a dark swimsuit and simple pool edge as the main visible era clues.
Home-movie behavior: The footage has an unstaged home-movie view of a swimmer moving through the water and briefly reaching the pool edge.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a swimmer, dark swimsuit, freestyle arm movement, splashing pool water, blue surface reflections, pool edge, and heavy frame borders.
Film character: The 8mm scan has soft focus, visible grain, blue color cast, flicker, and handheld framing that give it authentic home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief cutaway, memory beat, sports-practice insert, or transition within a 1970s recreation sequence.
Historical context: The scene reflects everyday pool recreation or swim practice, without visible signage, spectators, or competition markers to identify a specific event.
Research note: A person is visible and a face appears briefly, so likeness review may be needed separately from copyright or footage licensing.

Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then other 1973 New York material, then broader 1970s swimming or pool recreation scenes.
