A White And Blue Motorboat Speeds Across A Lake — Clip Details

NEW YORK-1973: A white and blue motorboat speeds across a calm lake, leaving a white wake behind. Shot on 8mm film, the footage captures the boat from multiple angles as it moves past the camera, with a distant shoreline of trees and houses visible under a hazy sky. The grainy, slightly faded color palette and subtle camera shake evoke a nostalgic, authentic home movie feel from the early 1970s.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1970s New York recreational boating, lake travel, summer leisure, or home-movie inserts in documentary and commercial edits.
Period detail: The small outboard motorboat, faded color stock, and handheld 8mm framing may show early 1970s leisure boating style on a New York lake.
Home-movie behavior: The camera follows the passing boat from shore or another vessel, preserving an unstaged home-movie view of people moving across open water.
What appears in frame: A white and blue motorboat, visible passengers, outboard engine, small flag, lake ripples, white wake, hazy sky, and distant tree-lined shore are visible.
Film character: The clip has soft 8mm grain, mild color fading, uneven handheld tracking, and occasional blur that give it clear physical-film texture.
Edit role: Editors could use this as a brief cutaway, travel insert, lake transition, or memory beat for 1970s boating and summer recreation sequences.
Historical context: The footage reflects casual private filming of recreational boating, with shoreline homes or structures only distant and not individually identifiable.
Research note: People are visible aboard the boat, so likeness review may be needed; no logos are apparent, and copyright clearance is separate from likeness or property issues.
Research search match: Researchers may search for 1973 New York 8mm motorboat footage, vintage lake boating home movie, or 1970s recreational boat on water.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then with 1973 New York lake material, then with broader vintage boating or summer recreation clips.
