Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s American home-movie requests needing brief backyard swimming, summer leisure, or family recreation footage for documentary, museum, education, or commercial edits.
Period detail: The footage may show late-1950s suburban leisure, with a simple backyard pool edge, hedge planting, potted greenery, and faded color 8mm home-movie texture supporting the 1959 metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The swimmer appears relaxed and aware of the camera, turning, floating, and gesturing in an unstaged backyard pool moment.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a young man in pool water, a second older swimmer in one frame, pale pool coping, dense hedge foliage, a white potted plant, and contact-sheet frame borders.
Film character: The scan carries soft 8mm color, visible grain, slight exposure fade, gate shadows, dust marks, and handheld framing that read as original home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, memory beat, summer recreation cutaway, or transition within sequences about midcentury family life and leisure.
Historical context: The clip documents casual private recreation in a backyard setting, with emphasis on ordinary social leisure rather than a public event or identifiable landmark.
Research note: People are visible, including faces in some frames, so likeness review may be needed separately from copyright and any location or property considerations.
Research search match: Researcher matches include 1959 Indiana 8mm home movie, backyard pool swimming, 1950s summer leisure, vintage family recreation, and midcentury home pool footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent same-reel pool or family scenes, then with other 1959 Indiana home movies, then with broader vintage summer recreation and backyard leisure footage.
