Snow Covered Trees On Cleo Winter Day — Clip Details

A vintage 8mm home movie from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, in 1966 captures a quiet winter day. Snow blankets the ground and clings to bare trees, with a rustic wooden structure visible in the background. The scene is bathed in a cool, blue-toned light, characteristic of old film stock, with a distinct grainy texture and slight color shift. The final frames show a solid blue screen, likely a film leader or blank frame, emphasizing the authentic, unedited nature of this archival footage.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s Midwestern winter atmosphere, rural nature cutaways, and documentary sequences needing authentic 8mm seasonal home-movie texture.
Period detail: The visible cues are general rather than date-specific: snow-covered bare trees, a rustic structure edge, blue-shifted color, and 8mm frame borders may show a mid-1960s home-movie winter scene.
Home-movie behavior: The clip carries an unstaged home-movie glance at outdoor winter scenery, with the camera holding on trees and snow before drifting into blue leader or blank film.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include snow on the ground, bare tree branches, snow-laden shrubs or rocks, a dark rustic roofline, 8mm frame edges, and blue leader frames.
Film character: The footage has visible grain, heavy blue color cast, uneven exposure, soft focus, gate edges, and leader frames that preserve the physical 8mm scan character.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a winter insert, memory beat, seasonal transition, or quiet cutaway between family or regional 1960s scenes.
Historical context: The scene offers visual context for a snowy outdoor day in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, without showing people, vehicles, signage, or identifiable public events.
Research note: No people, logos, or audible music are indicated, but copyright status and any property-related use should still be checked against the source reel and license terms.
Research search match: Researchers may find it through searches for 1966 Eau Claire Wisconsin 8mm winter footage, snow-covered trees home movie, blue leader, and Midwestern winter cutaway.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other Eau Claire or 1966 material, then broader 1960s winter, snow, trees, and home-movie landscape footage.
