Beautiful Lady Leaving Her House on a Cloudy Winter Day — Clip Details

A woman in a red hat and dark coat with fur collar steps out of a brick and white stone house in San Francisco, California, in 1944. Shot on 8mm film, the clip captures her walking down the steps on a cloudy winter day. Her warm clothing and the vintage architecture evoke a nostalgic, mid-century American home movie feel. The footage shows natural film grain and slight motion blur, characteristic of Super 8 home recordings from the era.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1940s home-front or domestic-life edits needing a brief exterior moment of a well-dressed woman leaving a San Francisco residence.
Period detail: The red hat, dark coat with fur collar, paneled glass doors, brickwork, and stone-trimmed entry may show mid-1940s urban residential style.
Home-movie behavior: The woman appears to walk toward the camera with a smile, giving the clip the informal, affectionate quality of a family home movie.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a woman in a red hat, dark coat, fur collar, brick and white stone facade, wooden glass doors, steps, railings, and a shrub.
Film character: The 8mm image has soft focus, visible grain, slight blur, uneven exposure, and contact-sheet framing that preserve the texture of original home-movie film.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a domestic-life insert, character entrance, transitional memory beat, or establishing cutaway for 1940s urban home footage.
Historical context: The clip offers a small-scale view of personal dress and residential architecture in wartime-era San Francisco without documenting a public event.
Research note: A recognizable adult face is visible, so likeness and contextual-use review may be needed in addition to any copyright or archive license checks.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1940s San Francisco home movie, woman leaving house 8mm, red hat fur collar, vintage residential exterior, and winter streetwear.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1944 San Francisco home exteriors, then broader 1940s domestic and street-fashion footage.
