Two People Playing In The Swimming Pool Outdoors — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1971, this vintage home movie captures a man and a woman enjoying a sunny day in a backyard swimming pool in California. The woman wears a patterned swim cap and a dark swimsuit, while the man is shirtless. They interact playfully at the pool's edge, with the woman leaning over the man in the water. The scene features a light blue pool, a white stucco wall, a life preserver, and a wall clock, all rendered with the warm color palette and film grain characteristic of Super 8 footage. This authentic slice of 1970s Americana evokes nostalgia and is ideal for documentaries, editorial content, or retro-themed projects.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1970s California home-movie footage suited to documentary or editorial sequences needing casual backyard pool recreation with visible adults.
Period detail: The stucco poolside setting, swim cap, simple backyard fixtures, and 8mm color rendering support an early-1970s domestic leisure context.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged playful moment as two adults interact at the pool edge while the camera observes from a nearby home-movie viewpoint.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a turquoise swimming pool, concrete coping, two adults, a patterned swim cap, stucco walls, a life preserver, a wall clock, and shaded patio openings.
Film character: The footage has soft 8mm grain, slight color shift, uneven exposure, and gentle handheld framing that give the scene its physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, memory beat, or transition for family leisure, summer recreation, or 1970s suburban California atmosphere.
Historical context: The scene shows private recreational life around a residential-style outdoor pool without supporting broader claims about the people or property shown.
Research note: People are visible, so likeness and possible property considerations should be reviewed separately from any footage copyright license.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1971 California 8mm swimming pool, 1970s home movie backyard pool, adults playing in pool, and vintage summer recreation footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with California 1971 home-movie material, then with broader 1970s pool and summer leisure footage.
