Small Motorized Boat Driving Down The Lake — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1971, this vintage home movie captures a small motorized boat speeding across a calm lake, leaving a white wake behind. Two people ride in the boat as it moves away from the camera. The scene shifts to show a man on a larger vessel, wearing sunglasses and a white shirt, filming the boat with a vintage camera. The final frames reveal three men on the deck of a boat under a bright blue sky, one in a yellow shirt and cap gesturing as they observe the activity. The footage features natural film grain, soft color saturation, and authentic 1970s home movie quality, evoking a sense of personal memory and leisure.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1970s archival requests needing Soviet-era leisure boating, amateur travel footage, or personal waterfront recreation as documentary insert material.
Period detail: The 8mm color, casual clothing, small motorboat, and handheld deck views support the 1971 home-movie context without identifying a specific landmark.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves unstaged leisure behavior, with people watching and filming a fast motorboat from a larger vessel.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a small motorboat, calm lake water, white wake, boat railing, a handheld camera, three adult men, mast hardware, and blue sky.
Film character: Soft focus, modest color fade, gate edges, handheld framing, and visible grain give the scan a physical 8mm home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short cutaway, travel-memory beat, boating insert, or transition between waterfront recreation scenes.
Historical context: The footage suggests casual boat-based recreation near Moscow in the early 1970s, seen through a private amateur camera rather than an official record.
Research note: Adult faces are visible, so likeness review may be needed separately from copyright or footage licensing; no logos or private property are apparent.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1971 Moscow 8mm boating footage, Soviet home movie lake recreation, small motorboat wake, and men on boat deck.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other Moscow 1971 waterfront material, then broader 1970s boating and leisure home movies.
