Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1930s Canadian home-movie requests needing lakeside recreation, swimming, summer leisure, or informal outdoor sports footage.
Period detail: The black-and-white 8mm footage and simple swimwear may show late-1930s recreational dress and amateur filming practices at Long Lake, Canada.
Home-movie behavior: The swimmer approaches the camera directly, surfacing and splashing in an unstaged lakeside moment likely filmed by a companion.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a man in a swimsuit, rippled lake water, splashes, breaststroke movement, a dark frame edge, and a watery lakeshore setting.
Film character: The clip has coarse 8mm grain, soft focus, uneven exposure, and handheld framing that preserve the texture of an original home-movie scan.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, recreation cutaway, summer memory beat, or transition within a sequence about lakeside leisure.
Historical context: The scene reflects casual outdoor swimming and social recreation in a Canadian lake setting without supporting claims about a named event or facility.
Research note: People and a visible face require likeness review, while copyright, location, and property questions should be assessed separately from the image content.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1939 8mm Canada lake swimming, vintage home movie swimmer, Long Lake Canada recreation, and 1930s summer water footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel shots, then other Long Lake 1939 material, then broader Canadian lake, swimming, summer outing, or home-movie recreation clips.
