Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1930s Canadian home-movie footage suited to requests for summer recreation, swimming, lakeside leisure, or everyday outdoor activity in archival edits.
Period detail: The black-and-white 8mm look and simple swimwear may show late-1930s amateur filming, supported by the supplied 1939 Long Lake metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The swimmer appears unposed and focused on moving through the water, giving the clip candid home-movie value rather than staged performance.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a lone swimmer, calm open water, freestyle arm strokes, splashes, ripples, dark frame edges, and soft film grain.
Film character: The clip has a high-contrast black-and-white 8mm texture with soft focus, visible grain, slight exposure variation, and contact-print edge darkening.
Edit role: Editors can use it as a brief insert, memory beat, summer transition, or cutaway illustrating personal recreation on water.
Historical context: The footage offers a small social view of outdoor leisure and swimming at Long Lake without showing landmarks or broader public events.
Research note: A person and face are visible, so likeness review may be needed separately from copyright, with no logos or private property apparent in the frames.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1939 Canada home movie swimming, Long Lake woman swimmer, vintage 8mm lake recreation, and 1930s summer water footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1939 Long Lake material, then broader vintage swimming or lake-holiday footage.
