A Wooden Cross With A Brass Plaque And Crucifixion Figure — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1962, this vintage home movie captures a view from inside a vehicle in Switzerland, showing a man in glasses seated in the front. Through the windshield, a street scene unfolds with pedestrians, a white car, and a large truck bearing a 'Krone' sign. The footage transitions to a solemn outdoor scene featuring a wooden cross with a crucifixion figure, a brass plaque, and a red flower at its base, set against a green, overgrown backdrop with a wooden fence. The film exhibits natural grain and color fading typical of Super 8 footage from the era.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s Swiss travel, roadside religion, and home-movie cutaways needing a brief vehicle-view street scene followed by a rural crucifix cross.
Period detail: The frames show mid-century cars, a bus or truck windshield view, uniformed police, older streetfronts, and a painted wooden crucifix that fit the stated 1962 Switzerland metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has an unstaged traveler viewpoint, first looking through a vehicle windshield at people in the street, then pausing on a roadside religious cross in greenery.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a seated man with glasses, windshield framing, pedestrians, uniformed police, a Krone sign, older vehicles, a wooden crucifix, flowers, and a fence.
Film character: The 8mm image carries soft focus, handheld framing, visible grain, slight exposure shifts, and faded color that preserve the feel of a scanned home-movie reel.
Edit role: Editors could use it as a short travel insert, a transition from urban arrival to rural devotional detail, or a memory beat about roadside Catholic imagery.
Historical context: The footage may show ordinary Swiss travel and public religious display in the early 1960s, with street activity and a small crucifix site recorded from a visitor perspective.
Research note: Human faces, uniformed police, a visible Krone sign, and religious imagery may require review for likeness, trademark, context, and property-related use separate from copyright status.
Research search match: Research matches include 1962 Switzerland 8mm street scene, Swiss home movie windshield view, roadside crucifix cross, police on street, and vintage travel footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other Switzerland 1962 travel scenes, then related roadside crosses, religious markers, street views, and vehicle-window footage.
