Woman Ice Skates In Front Of A House In Snow — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1939, this vintage home movie captures a snowy winter day in New York. Viewed through a window with dark mullions, a woman in period winter clothing ice skates across a snow-covered yard in front of a modest house. A classic 1930s automobile is parked on the street, and bare trees dot the residential scene. The grainy black-and-white footage, with its characteristic film scratches and soft focus, evokes a quiet, nostalgic moment of winter recreation in a mid-20th century American neighborhood.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1930s New York winter home-movie footage for productions needing a residential ice-skating or snowy neighborhood insert.
Period detail: The parked automobile, modest houses, bare trees, winter clothing, and black-and-white 8mm texture support the 1939 home-movie period attribution.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has unstaged home-movie value in its window-framed view of a woman skating across a snowy residential yard.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a woman skating, snow-covered ground, dark window mullions, modest houses, bare trees, shrubs, and a parked 1930s-style car.
Film character: The footage shows grain, soft focus, slight exposure variation, scratches, and window obstruction typical of small-gauge home-movie filming.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a winter memory beat, residential establishing cutaway, or quiet transition within a 1930s domestic sequence.
Historical context: The scene documents informal winter recreation in a residential American setting without making broader claims about the specific neighborhood.
Research note: A person and houses are visible, so likeness and property context may need review separate from any copyright assessment.
Research search match: Useful searches include 1930s New York home movie winter, woman ice skating by house, snowy residential 8mm footage, and vintage neighborhood winter scene.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent same-reel winter scenes, then with 1939 New York residential footage, then with broader home-movie skating or snow sequences.
