Black And White Video Of Two Women Standing By A — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1939, this vintage home movie captures two women standing by the shore of Clear Lake, California. The black-and-white footage shows them in period attire—dresses and wide-brimmed hats—amid trees with a calm lake in the background. A young boy in a straw hat sits on a wooden dock in one frame, while a small rowboat with several people glides across the water. The grainy texture and soft focus reflect the authentic look of mid-20th century amateur film, evoking a nostalgic, serene summer day.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1930s California home-movie requests needing lakeside leisure, women posing outdoors, or quiet recreational cutaways for documentary and educational edits.
Period detail: The clothing, wide-brimmed hat, high-waisted trousers, and soft black-and-white 8mm rendering support the 1939 home-movie period noted in the metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has an unstaged family-travel feel, with women standing for the camera near the water and one figure walking along a lakeside edge.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include two women, a wide-brimmed hat, trees, lake water, shoreline foliage, a dock or railing, bright sky, and 8mm frame edges.
Film character: The footage shows visible grain, soft focus, uneven exposure, and handheld framing consistent with scanned amateur 8mm film from the late 1930s.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short memory beat, location insert, leisure cutaway, or transition into a broader sequence about lakeside travel or family recreation.
Historical context: The scene shows informal outdoor recreation at Clear Lake, with women posing by the shore in attire consistent with the late-1930s date supplied in the metadata.
Research note: People and faces are visible, so likeness and possible privacy review may be needed separately from any copyright assessment of the film scan.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1939 8mm Clear Lake California home movie, women by lake, black-and-white lakeside vacation footage, and 1930s amateur travel film.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other Clear Lake 1939 material, then broader 1930s lakeside recreation or California travel footage.
