Women Walking On The Windy Beach Together In The Daylight — Clip Details

NEW YORK-1947: Two women in vintage 1940s attire stroll along a sunlit beach, their hair blowing in the wind as they laugh and walk together. One wears a light-colored button-up dress with a yellow flower in her hair, while the other wears a white blouse and blue skirt with a red flower. The scene shifts to show one woman opening the door of a U.S. Navy Emergency Vehicle, with red lettering visible on the side. Shot on 8mm film, this clip captures candid moments of joy and everyday life with authentic grain and color fading characteristic of mid-century home movies.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1940s New York home-movie requests needing women at a windy beach and a brief military vehicle cutaway for documentary or editorial use.
Period detail: The clothing, hairstyles with flowers, 8mm color stock, and U.S. Navy Emergency Vehicle lettering support a late-1940s setting noted in the metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has unstaged value in the women smiling, walking in wind, and casually interacting with the vehicle as a home-movie camera follows nearby.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include two women, surf, windblown hair, flower hair accessories, a blue-gray emergency vehicle, red U.S. Navy lettering, and handheld framing.
Film character: The scan shows soft 8mm color, visible grain, slight fading, gate edges, uneven exposure, and handheld movement that preserve the physical-film character.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a beach-life insert, wartime or postwar memory beat, transition from leisure to military presence, or short social-history cutaway.
Historical context: The scene places informal women’s leisure near visible U.S. Navy emergency signage, suggesting everyday public space alongside military infrastructure without proving a specific event.
Research note: Faces and U.S. Navy lettering are visible, so likeness and identification review may be needed; copyright status is separate from model or property permissions.
Research search match: Search matches include 1940s New York beach home movie, women walking on windy beach, U.S. Navy Emergency Vehicle 8mm footage, and vintage beach friends.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with the same reel, then other New York 1947 beach or Navy-adjacent material, then broader 1940s women, leisure, and home-movie travel scenes.
