Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1940s documentary edits needing a short home-movie view of a woman in U.S. Navy-style dress uniform posing in New York after World War II.
Period detail: The white naval-style uniform, peaked cap insignia, gloves, structured jacket, black tie, and 8mm color stock support a late-1940s military or formal-service setting.
Home-movie behavior: The subject stands outdoors before foliage, turns slightly toward the camera, and holds a composed smile in the direct, informal manner of a home-movie portrait.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a woman in white uniform, dark cap band, gold buttons, black tie, white gloves, small handbag or purse, leafy shrubs, and deep shadowed garden background.
Film character: The clip has soft 8mm color, warm mid-century tones, visible grain, slight exposure variation, and mild blur from handheld filming and the short posed movement.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a brief insert, identity beat, military-service cutaway, or transition into material about women, uniforms, postwar life, or family records.
Historical context: The footage visually places a female service member or officer figure in a formal uniformed portrait setting, suggesting pride, duty, and public presentation in the 1940s.
Research note: A recognizable adult face and military insignia are visible, so likeness, uniform identification, and possible emblem use should be reviewed separately from footage copyright.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1947 New York female naval officer home movie, woman in white Navy uniform 8mm footage, and postwar military portrait color film.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other New York or 1947 home movies, then related footage of women in uniform, postwar family scenes, or military ceremonies.
