Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1940s documentary edits needing New York outdoor ceremonial footage with a naval officer, suited civilians, and formal public decorum.
Period detail: The dress naval uniform, medals, dark suits, bow tie, eyeglasses, and 8mm color home-movie look support a late-1940s official or civic setting.
Home-movie behavior: The camera observes from a short distance as the officer stands at attention and nearby men shift, turn, and converse in an unstaged ceremonial moment.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a naval officer in dress uniform, two suited men, a waistcoat or formal vest, medals, white cap, trees, lawn, and bright daylight.
Film character: The clip has soft 8mm grain, warm color, slight exposure variation, and contact-print framing that preserve the texture of original home-movie film.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a cutaway, establishing insert, or memory beat for postwar civic ceremony, military presence, or formal outdoor gathering.
Historical context: The footage shows mid-century American formality through military dress, civilian suits, and an outdoor garden setting without identifying a specific event.
Research note: People and military dress are visible, so likeness, context, and any institutional identification should be reviewed separately from copyright status.
Research search match: Search matches include 1940s New York home movie, naval officer ceremony, military uniform garden, suited men outdoors, and vintage 8mm civic event.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1947 New York footage, then related clips of ceremonies, military dress, and formal gatherings.
