Group Of People Wearing Black Suits Walk Past White... — Clip Details

NEW YORK-1947: A group of women in dark uniforms and hats walk alongside men in naval-style uniforms on a sunny day. The women wear matching dark coats and skirts, while the men sport dark suits with gold epaulets and caps. They move in formation past a large white garage door, their shadows stretching across the pavement. Shot on 8mm film, the footage captures a moment of organized movement, likely a military or service-related event, with a distinct mid-century aesthetic and natural color tones.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1940s New York editorial projects needing brief color home-movie footage of uniformed adults moving in an organized group outdoors.
Period detail: The dark coats, brimmed hats, naval-style caps, gold sleeve bands, and 8mm color stock support a late-1940s service or formal civic setting.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has the value of a bystander or home-movie view, observing adults walking and pausing without staged camera direction.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include uniformed women, men in naval-style dress uniforms, dark hats, a white garage-style door, pavement, long shadows, and bright sunlight.
Film character: The 8mm image has soft focus, mild grain, warm color, uneven exposure, and slight frame instability that read as original mid-century home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short insert, transition, or cutaway for organized public movement, uniforms, or postwar-era street activity.
Historical context: The footage suggests formal or service-related dress in a public outdoor setting, but the exact organization and event are not identified in the frames.
Research note: People and faces are visible, so likeness and contextual use should be reviewed separately from any film copyright considerations.
Research search match: Searches such as 1947 New York 8mm uniformed group, women in dark uniforms walking, naval-style uniforms home movie, or postwar service event may match this clip.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1947 New York footage, then related clips of uniformed groups, civic ceremonies, or organized outdoor movement.
