New York-1947: Women In Uniform Walk And Stand In Formation At Airfield

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Useful for 1940s archival requests needing women in uniform at an airfield or paved staging area for documentary, museum, education, or editorial context.

Period detail

The dark skirted uniforms, brimmed hats, mid-century automobiles, and open paved lot may show organized women’s activity in New York in 1947.

Home-movie behavior

The clip has an observer’s home-movie perspective, catching the group walking, pausing, and standing in formation rather than a polished official record.

What appears in frame

Visible elements include uniformed women, brimmed hats, dark coats or jackets, a paved airfield-like lot, vintage cars, bare trees, houses, and a large hangar-like building.

Film character

The 8mm color footage shows soft focus, visible grain, mild fading, uneven exposure, and contact-print framing that support its mid-century home-movie texture.

Edit role

Editors could use it as a short insert, formation cutaway, transition beat, or visual reference for women’s organized public activity in the late 1940s.

Historical context

The scene visually suggests formal or semi-formal group movement by women in matching uniforms, but the organization and event are not identified in the frames.

Research note

People and faces are visible, so likeness and context review may be needed even if no logos, music, or clear private-property claims are apparent.
