Women In Black Uniforms Standing In Formation — Clip Details

NEW YORK-1947: A line of women in matching black uniforms and caps stand at attention in a paved courtyard, their expressions serious and focused. Shot on 8mm film, the footage captures a moment of disciplined formation, likely a military or civil service training exercise. The women wear dark, tailored jackets with visible insignia, and their hair is styled in neat, period-appropriate bobs. In the background, a large, multi-story institutional building with rows of windows dominates the scene. A vintage car is parked to the right, adding to the authentic 1940s atmosphere. The image has the characteristic grain and color palette of a home movie from the era, with a slightly faded, nostalgic quality. The camera remains stationary, observing the women as they stand in formation, with one woman briefly raising her hand in a salute. This archival footage is ideal for historical documentaries, period pieces, or content exploring women's roles in mid-20th century America.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1940s New York editorial sequences needing women in uniform, formal formation, or wartime-era civil service and training atmosphere.
Period detail: The dark caps, tailored jackets, pinned insignia, bobbed hair, institutional facade, and parked vintage car support a mid-1940s setting shown in the supplied 1947 metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in the brief, observational home-movie view of women holding formation and moving into a salute without staged narration or modern reenactment.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a row of uniformed women, dark caps and coats, faces in profile, a paved courtyard, a pale multi-story building, window rows, and a parked car.
Film character: The 8mm image has soft focus, mild color fading, visible grain, and contact-sheet framing that give the clip a physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, transition, or cutaway for disciplined public service, women's uniforms, or institutional life in the 1940s.
Historical context: The footage visually suggests organized female participation in a uniformed group, though the exact organization, rank, and purpose are not identified in the frames.
Research note: People and recognizable faces are visible, so likeness review may be needed; no logos are apparent, and copyright status is separate from appearance or property questions.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1947 New York women in uniform, 1940s female formation, 8mm home movie women saluting, and uniformed women courtyard footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other New York 1947 exteriors, and finally broader 1940s women in uniform or civic training material.
