Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1940s Ceylon 8mm footage for documentary or museum edits needing elephants in transport or animal-handling context around Colombo.
Period detail: The wooden deck, warm color stock, clothing, and small-gauge home-movie framing may show mid-1940s travel or animal transport in Ceylon.
Home-movie behavior: The camera observes the elephants from a close visitor or traveler viewpoint, holding on feeding and walking behavior rather than staged performance.
What appears in frame: A young elephant, cut green vegetation, a wooden pen, an adult elephant, deck planking, ropes or rigging, and a man in white clothing are visible.
Film character: The clip has soft 8mm color, visible grain, uneven exposure, and handheld framing that give it a period home-movie texture.
Edit role: Editors could use it as a brief insert, transition, or memory beat for South Asian travel, animal transport, or archival elephant footage.
Historical context: The frames show elephants in human-managed surroundings, suggesting travel, holding, or transport activity without proving the exact purpose of the setting.
Research note: People are visible in the background, so likeness and context review may be needed in addition to normal footage copyright checks.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1940s Ceylon elephant footage, Colombo home movie elephant, 8mm animal transport, or elephant on ship deck.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel material, then Colombo or Ceylon 1946 footage, then broader elephant, wildlife, ship-deck, or travel-home-movie clips.
