Shot on 8mm film in 1945, this vintage home movie captures a child learning to skate on a sidewalk in Elmwood Park, Illinois. An adult guides the young skater, helping them balance as they glide across the pavement. The footage shows a winter scene with patches of snow and bare tree branches casting long shadows. The image has a distinct purple and green color cast typical of early color film, with visible grain and slight motion blur. The scene is viewed from a window, with a dark frame on the left, creating a nostalgic, intimate perspective of a family moment from the mid-20th century.
