Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s 8mm home-movie lake swimming scene suited to documentary or educational requests for mid-century American summer leisure.
Period detail: The swimsuits, saturated color, and 8mm handling may show early 1960s amateur family footage consistent with the supplied Camden, New Jersey, 1962 metadata.
Home-movie behavior: Unstaged swimmers laugh, talk, and cluster in deep water as the camera observes from nearby, giving the scene a candid family-recreation quality.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include four women, a younger swimmer, blue lake water, patterned and dark swimsuits, wet hair, smiling faces, and handheld framing.
Film character: The clip has dense blue color, soft focus, visible grain, and slight exposure variation typical of scanned 8mm home-movie film.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, summer-memory cutaway, or transition beat within a sequence about family leisure or public swimming.
Historical context: The footage shows informal mixed-age recreation in open water, offering visual context for everyday summer leisure without identifying the people or exact shoreline.
Research note: People and faces are visible, with a possible minor present, so likeness and editorial-use review should be considered separately from copyright status.
Research search match: Searches such as 1960s 8mm lake swimming, Camden New Jersey home movie, vintage women swimming, and mid-century summer recreation may match this clip.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then Camden or 1962 material, then broader 1960s lake, swimming, and family-summer footage.
