A Group Of Women Enjoy Swimming In Open Water — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1962, this vintage home movie captures a group of women enjoying a sunny day in open water. The footage shows several women in swimsuits laughing and swimming together in a lake or ocean, their faces lit with joy. The color palette features rich, saturated blues of the water and the warm tones of the 1960s film stock, with visible grain and slight color shifts characteristic of Super 8 home movies. The camera remains steady, focusing on the women as they interact and splash, creating a candid, nostalgic moment of summer fun and friendship. Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s home-movie footage for productions needing a brief candid swimming or summer leisure moment in Camden, New Jersey archival context.
Period detail: The swimsuits, color 8mm look, and metadata-supported 1962 date place the scene in early 1960s American leisure footage, though no landmark is visible.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged group moment as women smile, talk, and tread water while the home-movie camera watches from nearby.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include open blue water, several women in swimsuits, smiling faces, shoulder-deep swimming, ripples, and dark contact-sheet frame borders.
Film character: The footage has saturated blue color, soft focus, visible grain, slight exposure variation, and the compact framing typical of scanned 8mm home movies.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short cutaway, memory beat, or transition for mid-century summer recreation, friendship, or family leisure sequences.
Historical context: The scene shows women socializing in open water, offering visual context for everyday recreational swimming without identifying the exact body of water.
Research note: People and recognizable faces are visible, so likeness and editorial-use review may be needed separately from copyright or source licensing checks.
Research search match: Useful searches include 1962 Camden New Jersey swimming, 1960s women in open water, vintage 8mm summer leisure, and home movie lake swimming.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1962 Camden material, then broader 1960s swimming or summer leisure home movies.
