Racine Wisconsin USA-1972: Timber Wolf, Sad Brown Bear, and Polar Bear in Zoo Enclosures

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

1970s zoo and animal-captivity footage for documentary, museum, education, or editorial sequences about wildlife display and public recreation.

Period detail

The footage may show early-1970s zoo enclosures, with wire mesh, metal bars, and close animal viewing typical of older visitor-shot home movies.

Home-movie behavior

The clip preserves an unstaged visitor perspective, lingering closely on confined animals rather than presenting a planned wildlife scene.

What appears in frame

Visible elements include a timber wolf behind mesh, a brown bear at metal bars, a polar bear in profile, cage rails, dim enclosure walls, and handheld framing.

Film character

The 8mm scan shows soft focus, visible grain, mild color fading, uneven exposure, and slight handheld movement as part of its archival home-movie texture.

Edit role

An editor could use this as a short insert, cutaway, or reflective memory beat within sequences about zoos, animal confinement, or 1970s family travel.

Historical context

The images document animals viewed through enclosure barriers, offering visual context for public zoo experiences without identifying a specific facility beyond the supplied Racine metadata.

Research note

No people, brands, or audible music are indicated, but copyright, zoo property context, and animal-welfare sensitivity should still be reviewed before use.
