People On Small Boat Cruising Sea With Ocean Liner In... — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1964, this vintage home movie captures a small boat cruising across the deep blue sea near Montego Bay, Jamaica. Passengers in light summer clothing relax under a striped canopy as the boat cuts through the waves, leaving a white wake. The footage transitions to a distant view of a massive ocean liner, likely a luxury cruise ship, sailing on the horizon. The film exhibits classic Super 8 grain, color shifts, and a nostalgic, sun-drenched quality, evoking mid-century leisure travel and tropical adventure.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s Jamaica travel footage for edits needing small-boat leisure views and an ocean liner at sea.
Period detail: Visible era clues include 8mm color, summer resort clothing, a striped boat canopy, and a mid-century ocean liner silhouette.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves a visitor-shot perspective from the water, with passengers seated casually as boats pass across a choppy bay.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a small passenger boat, striped canopy, seated travelers, blue sea, white wake, distant shoreline, and a large ocean liner.
Film character: The footage has saturated blue color, soft focus, gate edges, handheld framing, and visible 8mm grain that mark it as physical home-movie film.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a travel insert, sea-transition shot, cruise cutaway, or brief memory beat for Caribbean tourism scenes.
Historical context: The imagery reflects mid-century leisure travel around Montego Bay through a private-camera view rather than an official tourism film.
Research note: People and a possible ship marking or flag are visible, so likeness, vessel identity, trademark, and copyright clearance should be reviewed separately.
Research search match: Useful searches include 1960s Montego Bay home movie, Jamaica boat at sea, ocean liner from small boat, and 8mm Caribbean travel footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel material, then other 1964 Montego Bay footage, then broader Caribbean boating, cruise, and resort-travel scenes.
