Woman Shooting Rifle in Backyard with Man Watching — Clip Details

A young woman in a black top and white shorts aims a rifle in a grassy backyard, her focus intent as she takes a shot. A man in a light blue shirt and dark shorts stands nearby, observing. Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Serves 1960s Americana and domestic-life documentaries seeking candid footage of recreational shooting in a suburban backyard setting.
Period detail: Clothing — the woman's sleeveless top and high-waisted white shorts, the man's V-neck sport shirt — is consistent with early 1960s American casual wear; a TV antenna is visible on a utility pole.
Home-movie behavior: The man's relaxed smile and informal stance suggest a spontaneous family moment rather than a staged scene, lending the footage an authentic candid quality.
What appears in frame: A woman aiming a long rifle, a smiling man in a light blue shirt, a green lawn, a small pink-brick outbuilding, a second blue-roofed structure, dense leafy trees, and a utility pole with antenna.
Film character: Color has shifted toward a cool blue-magenta cast with visible film grain and slight vignetting at frame edges, typical of aged 8mm color film stock.
Edit role: Works as a brief character-establishing insert or memory-beat cutaway in documentaries exploring postwar American domestic life, recreational shooting culture, or 1960s suburbia.
Historical context: Backyard target shooting was a commonplace recreational pursuit in mid-century American suburbs; this clip offers a candid glimpse of women's participation in that tradition.
Research note: Identifiable adult faces are visible in all frames; no logos or copyright materials are apparent, but editorial and commercial uses should be reviewed for likeness rights given subject identification.
Research search match: 1960s American home movie backyard shooting, woman with rifle, suburban New Jersey, mid-century recreation, vintage 8mm color footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other clips from the same Camden New Jersey reel; then with 1960s suburban outdoor recreation footage; then with archival clips depicting women in sporting or non-traditional roles.
