Camden New Jersey USA-1964: Man Handing Rifle To Shooting Partner At Range

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Fills editorial requests covering mid-1960s American recreational gun culture or suburban leisure — useful for documentaries on firearms history, sporting life, or mid-century everyday American pastimes.

Period detail

Short-sleeve polo and horizontal-stripe casual shirts, dark slacks, and shallow wooden target stands with bullseye discs suggest mid-1960s American recreational shooting culture.

Home-movie behavior

The camera operator appears to know the subjects and circles them informally during the rifle handoff, giving the clip the feel of personal documentation of a day at the range rather than staged demonstration footage.

What appears in frame

Two adult men, a long rifle being passed between them, circular bullseye targets on wooden stands, mowed grass, dense deciduous treeline, a partially visible white posted sign, and period casual leisure clothing.

Film character

8mm color with warm-leaning skin tones and saturated greens, mild frame flicker, handheld wobble, and fine grain consistent with mid-1960s consumer film stock.

Edit role

Functions as an insert or illustrative cutaway in editorial sequences on mid-century American recreational shooting or leisure; also usable as a memory-beat in personal history or social-change documentary segments.

Historical context

Recreational shooting ranges were a common American leisure activity in the mid-1960s; the relaxed handling and informal clothing reflect attitudes toward firearms in sporting contexts before significant federal regulation.

Research note

Adult male faces are identifiable in multiple frames; likeness review is advised as subjects appear to be private individuals; no visible brand markings; firearm content may require platform-specific editorial justification.
