Bull Chasing Matador As Matador Stabs Bull In Ring — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1962, this vintage footage captures a dramatic bullfight in a sun-drenched arena. A matador in a traditional blue and white suit with pink stockings and a black hat skillfully maneuvers a charging black bull, using a colorful cape and banderillas. Other performers in bright pink and yellow capes stand ready in the ring. The scene unfolds under bright daylight, with spectators visible in the background behind red barriers. The grainy, color-bleached quality of the Super 8 film adds authentic archival texture to this intense moment of Spanish tradition.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Serves 1960s documentary and commercial productions needing authentic color footage of a mid-century bullfight, useful for sports history, travel, or cultural programming.
Period detail: Embroidered traje de luces suits, traditional capotes, and advertising signage visible in the stands are consistent with early 1960s bullfighting; arena banners may help identify the venue.
Home-movie behavior: Shot from a spectator's vantage in the stands framing the full ring floor — the hallmark of a tourist filming an event they attended rather than a staged production.
What appears in frame: Sandy bullring floor, black bull, matadors in embroidered light-blue suits, pink and magenta capotes, red barrera wall, spectators in stands, advertising banner on barrier.
Film character: Color-shifted 8mm stock with warm grain, visible frame-edge texture, and slightly washed highlights characteristic of amateur mid-1960s home-movie film.
Edit role: Functions as an insert or cutaway within a bullfighting sequence, or as an archival illustration in cultural or sports-history documentaries covering mid-century spectacle.
Historical context: Bullfighting was banned in California; despite the 'Los Angeles' title attribution, this footage was likely filmed in Mexico (e.g., Tijuana) or Spain by a traveling amateur filmmaker.
Research note: Performer identities are unverified; advertising signage visible in stands may carry trademark considerations; editorial use only — independent clearance required before commercial exploitation.
Research search match: Researchers may search '1960s bullfight 8mm color home movie,' 'vintage corrida de toros amateur film,' or 'mid-century matador archival footage.'
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other frames from this reel; then 1960s travel footage from Mexico or Spain; then mid-century crowd spectacle or arena sports sequences.
