Los Angeles California USA-1962: Sea Lion Performance at Marineland of the Pacific

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Useful for 1960s editorial sequences about Southern California leisure, marine parks, animal performance, or visitor-recorded family travel.

Period detail

The 8mm color, white handler uniforms, poolside stage, and visible Marineland sign support a mid-century amusement-park setting in the Los Angeles area.

Home-movie behavior

The clip has a visitor-shot perspective from the audience area, catching the sea lion act through dark film-frame edges rather than staged publicity coverage.

What appears in frame

Visible elements include a blue performance pool, sea lions, white-uniformed handlers, low platforms, a pink backdrop, Marineland signage, railings, and show equipment.

Film character

The footage carries 8mm grain, soft focus, faded color, gate edges, dust marks, and slight handheld framing that read as physical home-movie texture.

Edit role

An editor could use it as a brief insert, transition, or memory beat for mid-century tourism, family outings, animal shows, or Southern California attractions.

Historical context

The scene documents a public marine-park performance style with trained animals and uniformed staff, viewed from the audience side of the pool.

Research note

Human likenesses and visible Marineland branding may require review; copyright, trademark, likeness, and location/property questions should be assessed separately.
