Workers In Rice Field Followed By Woman Shopping — Clip Details

A vintage 8mm home movie from 1962 captures a group of fieldworkers in conical hats laboring in a flooded rice paddy in Calcutta, India. The workers, dressed in dark clothing, wade through the water, bent over as they tend to the crops. The scene is framed by a wooden utility pole and expansive farmland under a muted sky. The footage transitions to a dimly lit interior, showing a woman in a white shirt from behind, standing before a shop with red neon signage. The film exhibits classic Super 8 grain, scratches, and a nostalgic, documentary-style quality.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s 8mm travel footage for productions needing rural labor and urban shopping cutaways from Calcutta, India.
Period detail: The conical hats, flooded paddy work, neon shopfront, and 8mm color stock may show early-1960s travel-era views of everyday work and commerce.
Home-movie behavior: The camera observes workers from a distance and then records a brief shopper's-eye moment inside a dim commercial space.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include flooded rice fields, bent fieldworkers, conical hats, a utility pole, a shop counter, red neon signage, and shoppers.
Film character: Soft focus, handheld framing, gate shadows, scratches, and uneven exposure give the clip a scanned 8mm home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a quick rural-to-urban transition, an observational insert, or a memory beat within travel or social-history sequences.
Historical context: The clip contrasts agricultural field labor with a brief interior shopping scene, suggesting everyday movement between work landscapes and commercial spaces.
Research note: People and red shop signage are visible, so likeness, signage, and location context should be reviewed separately from copyright status.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1960s Calcutta home movie, India rice paddy workers, 8mm travel footage, and vintage shop interior.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent same-reel India travel scenes, then Calcutta 1962 material, then broader rice farming or market-shopping footage.
