People Standing On A Dock And Washing Clothes In The River — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1962, this vintage home movie captures a bustling riverside scene in Calcutta, India. Silhouetted figures stand on a wooden dock, some conversing, others gazing out over the water, while in the foreground, people in traditional clothing wash clothes in the river. The footage shows a mix of standing and active figures, with a stone building visible on the riverbank. The image has a warm, aged tone with visible film grain and scratches, characteristic of Super 8 home movies from the era. The scene evokes a sense of daily life and community in mid-20th century India.
