People Bathing and Washing at Riverside Ghat — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1962, this vintage home movie captures a bustling riverside ghat in Calcutta, India. Crowded stone steps lead down to the water where people gather, bathe, and wash clothes under large umbrellas. Men and women in traditional clothing move through the scene, some standing on the ghats while others navigate small boats. The footage shows weathered architecture with arched windows and a sense of daily life in a historic Indian city. The film exhibits natural grain, slight color fading, and the authentic look of a mid-century home movie.
