Illinois USA-1962: Woman Standing In Garden By Lake

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Serves requests for 1960s American domestic life, backyard garden scenes, or Midwestern family footage for documentary or editorial use.

Period detail

The woman's patterned short-sleeve dress and the hand-held 8mm framing are consistent with early-1960s American home movie conventions.

Home-movie behavior

A family member poses facing the camera in a rehearsed but affectionate stance, suggesting a commemorative backyard portrait rather than candid action.

What appears in frame

Middle-aged woman in a print dress, yellow daylilies in foreground, purple flowers at frame edges, tall deciduous trees, open lake in background, natural summer daylight.

Film character

8mm color emulsion shows a warm-to-cool color shift, moderate grain in shadow areas, and slight softness at frame edges consistent with period consumer lenses.

Edit role

Functions as a memory-beat insert or period-establishing cutaway within a 1960s domestic, Americana, or family-life sequence.

Historical context

Backyard lakeside garden portraits were a common home-movie subject in postwar Midwestern America; the flowering garden suggests a summer shoot.

Research note

An identifiable adult face is visible across all frames; likeness rights may require assessment depending on intended use and jurisdiction.
