Illinois USA-1962: Wind Blowing Over Scenic Landscape With Elderly Woman In Garden

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Fills 1960s Midwest Americana domestic-life briefs — a personal lakeside garden moment suits documentary b-roll, memory sequences, or social-history segments on postwar rural life.

Period detail

The woman's patterned short-sleeved housedress with ruffle-collar detail and the early Kodachrome-era color palette are consistent with early 1960s American home-movie fashion.

Home-movie behavior

A family member filmed a matriarch in her own garden, capturing her relaxed stance and gentle expression — an unguarded, affectionate portrait rather than a posed studio image.

What appears in frame

Elderly woman in patterned dress, bright yellow daylilies in foreground, purple flowering shrubs, large dark tree trunks framing scene, wind-stirred green foliage, calm lake, pale blue sky.

Film character

Soft 8mm grain, mild color shift toward warm pastels, slightly soft peripheral focus, and natural-light variation give the footage an intimate hand-held documentary texture.

Edit role

Works as a memory beat or transitional insert in personal-history or generational documentary segments; the static-yet-living garden scene allows a clean cut-in and cut-out.

Historical context

Lakeside home gardens with daylilies were common in Illinois residential settings in the early 1960s; the housedress style reflects everyday domestic clothing of that era.

Research note

An identifiable adult woman is visible in all frames; likeness rights cannot be assumed — assess editorial versus commercial use and seek documentation before licensing commercially.
